Attention all TOPS® Pro users – are you using version 6 to the max?

Pic

Many of you upgraded to the latest 6.0 release of TOPS Pro in 2010 and we want to be sure that you are maximising your use of all of the new features available:

Multiple pallet calculations – version 6.0 enhances the capability to compare multiple pallets by providing a new option to separate the results by pallet type rather than producing them in a single list.  Checking the ‘Optimize for each pallet’ option will display the results as separate tabs in the solution list pane. The features work in the same way if you want to compare vehicles.

Solution editing - when you view a solution for a pallet pattern, you can edit the result by moving boxes etc.  With version 6.0 you can do the same for case configuration – this is accessed through a modify button on the Shipcase view window.

Comparison reports – compare up to five solutions on single report.  The solution lists for the cases and pallets contain a first column headed ‘select’.  Double clicking any solution confirms it as selected for the report and a tick appears in the first column.  Use the right mouse to preview or print the multiple solution report.

Unitload limits – limit the number of cases, layers or cases that TOPS Pro places on the pallet.  Simply type the number into the boxes in the window titled ‘limit to max’.  Leaving the default ‘0’ value will ensure TOPS Pro finds the optimal pallet pattern.

New box styles – simply go to the ‘define’ menu and choose new box styles for cases including display cases, tear out boxes and others.

You can also access a complete list of the features here and if you have any questions call us on 01844 281380.

We also now have a ‘Useful Downloads’ area on our web-site where you’ll find the latest documents including a full user guide to the new features as well as other documents, tutorials and user guides.  Click here to access the new area.

Tip of the Day

TOPS® Pro

We are sometimes asked by customers how they can restrict the case configurations suggested as the optimal solutions in TOPS Pro.
Try clicking the ‘options’ button in the shipcase parameters window. You can set a maximum for the number of cartons along the length, width and height of the case as well as defining the ratio of length to width so that the software takes account of these when sizing a case and only calculates the appropriate solutions.
For further help with using the software feel free to call us on 01844 281380.

In this issue, we make sure you are getting the most from your latest TOPS Pro software and give a sneak preview of the next version of MaxLoad Pro.  We also include an update on the latest training opportunities and provide an insight into how else we can help your business.  Finally, one of our employees has been wearing himself out for a worthy cause…
